About
Welcome to Asam Pedas Kasih Ibu, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Teluk Kemang, Negeri Sembilan. This vibrant eatery has garnered a loyal following for its authentic Malaysian dishes, particularly its signature asam pedas. Located at No 183, Batu 7 3 4, Jln Pantai, this charming spot is where comfort food meets tradition, serving up the kind of flavors that bring back memories of home.
As I stepped inside, I was greeted by an inviting atmosphere that radiates warmth and hospitality. The space is spacious, making it ideal for both intimate meals and larger gatherings. However, I recommend arriving early, as crowds tend to gather for lunch, especially between 11 to 11:30 AM.
The menu showcases a delightful variety of dishes, but the stars here are undoubtedly the asam pedas and masak lomak cili api. A recent review from customer Yanafzain encapsulates the experience perfectly: she described the asam pedas stingray as rich and flavorful, with a thick gravy that tickles the palate without overwhelming it. The stingray, while noted to be slightly chewy, was nonetheless enjoyable for those who appreciate a robust taste.
Another highlight is the masak lomak cili api paired with fried chicken, which has been hailed as a dish that evokes nostalgia. Its balance of spices and flavors creates a comforting dish that resonates with many diners, reminding them of cherished home-cooked meals. As the review pointed out, the fried chicken tastes reminiscent of classic kampung recipes, seasoned just right with salt and turmeric.
While the food took center stage, the ambiance also contributed to the overall dining experience. Customers have noted that the cleanliness of Asam Pedas Kasih Ibu is commendable, adding to its charm. Additionally, it's worth noting that the establishment serves a delicious coconut shake, which provides a refreshing complement to the spicy dishes.
Despite the occasional lingering flies and the approach for wheelchair accessibility, the overwhelming sentiment is one of satisfaction. As David “The Explorer” Hogan Jr. highlighted, Asam Pedas Kasih Ibu stands out as one of the best places for asam pedas in the area. The reasonable pricing further assures that a fulfilling meal won't break the bank; for instance, a meal for two can be enjoyed for under RM30.
As your food reviewer for Menu Buzz, I wholeheartedly recommend making a visit to Asam Pedas Kasih Ibu. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this eatery promises a delightful taste of Malaysia that will leave you craving more.
“ So nice and accommodating the food was absolutely delicious. Very clean. Try the coconut and the coconut shake super good. ”
“ This is one of the better Asam Pedas in this area. I had the Ikan Pari Asam Pedas, which was great, and the cincaru goreng stuffed with sambal, which was awesome! The place is c huge, with parking available inside and there's a lot of seating. There is also the famous PD Coconut Shake sold there. A busker plays music during weekends. Place can get really crowded during lunch. Best to come early and eat here, around 11 to 11.30. Price is slightly above average, but the food taste justifies it. ”
“ The variety of dishes provided was impressive. The atmosphere wasn't too crowded, making for a pleasant dining experience, and the service was excellent. The food was delicious, the cleanliness was well-maintained, and they also offered a refreshing coconut shake. ”
“ Asam Pedas Kasih Ibu will always be my favourite of all time, and I realized that the taste of their asam pedas today is better than the previous one. I am not sure, at which part. But yes, it was thicker, tastier, spicier. Of course, it could not beat their killer dish of the masak lomak cili api. Okay, to break it down, these were the dishes we have ordered on Sunday, 1230pm. Table for 2; 1. Nasi putih and masak lomak cili api rebung with aside of fried chicken. ^ I tell you, their lomak cili api was amazingly tasty! Their rebung, was easily to chew kerana tidak matang. Tidak berbau dan pahit di lidah. Their fried chicken on the other hand, the taste tu mengingatkan I kepada juadah kampung. Masin kunyit tu phew- sedap sangat. 2. Nasi putih bersama ulam-ulaman kacang botol dan timun. Paired with a bowl of asam pedas stingray (ikan pari). Sedap! Tidak hanyir, pekat likat dan secukup rasa. Rasanya tidak sepedas lomak cili api, so it is edible for someone who does not eat spicy food like my friend. [Were the any issue we experienced at the place?] 1. As fresh as the foods were served, but the stingray (ikan pari) was chewy. Still edible, but we did not enjoy much eating the chewy fish. 2. We looked around for insect light trap, but there was none of them. I mean, they did close the lid of each lauk-pauk, still there was a lot of flies flying around the lauk terhidang. 3. We got lucky to come by as early as we can be, but through times I think there would be insufficient tables and chairs for customers to seat. Maybe they can try to improve at this part? 4. Sadly, there was no place for wheelchair accessibility. 5. We came by a motorcycle, I guess we did not have any issue to park anywhere but for cars? It would be best if you guys can come at least before 2pm for a good/ nearer place to park. Especially for you guys who will be bringing the elderly. The total price for our foods that day was RM26.50 along with 2 bowl of teh ais. I think, it was okay. Not too pricey, not too cheap. [Will we ever come back for more?] YES. ”
“ Price: Consider affordable. Our meals for 4 ( refer pictures) cost us RM60, including drink. Taste: Asam pedas gravy taste ok. Thick gravy. But for the stingray/pari, it taste a lil bit chewy. Not to our liking. For the tetel, just so so. But for other lauk or masak lemak, it taste good. ”
